EWC 2024 Free Fire Group Stage Opens with Spectacular Performances

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — July 8, 2024 — The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2024 Free Fire Group Stage commenced with thrilling action at the BR Arena in Boulevard Riyadh City, setting the stage for intense competition among 18 elite teams vying for glory and a share of the monumental $1 million prize pool.

Divided into groups A, B, and C, each comprising six teams, the group stage kicked off with Groups A and B on its opening day. Teams battled it out across various Free Fire maps including Bermuda, Purgatory, Kalahari, Alpine, and Nexterra, showcasing their strategic prowess and combat skills in four gripping rounds.

Buriram United Esports from Thailand emerged as frontrunners, seizing attention with an outstanding performance, amassing 122 points and an impressive 68 kills. Their aggressive tactics and calculated gameplay secured them multiple victories, asserting their dominance early in the tournament.

Following closely behind, Brazil’s LOUD demonstrated consistency and skill, accumulating 103 points and 60 kills, positioning themselves as strong contenders for the top spot.

Indonesia’s RRQ Kazu showcased their formidable teamwork, clinching the third spot with 91 points and 47 kills, further intensifying the competition among the top teams.

Thailand’s All Gamers, Brazil’s Miners.gg, and Indonesia’s EVOS Divine rounded out the top six, each displaying moments of brilliance and tactical finesse. All Gamers impressed with their aggressive style, securing 86 points and 52 kills, while Miners.gg and EVOS Divine showcased resilience and strategic acumen with 64 points/36 kills and 60 points/37 kills respectively.

The group stage will continue until July 12, with each group participating in 12 matches. The top 12 teams from the group stage will advance to the Points Rush stage on July 13, competing in six matches to gain head start points for the Grand Finals scheduled for July 14.

The culmination of EWC 2024 Free Fire on July 14 promises an electrifying finale, where the champions will not only claim a significant portion of the $1 million prize pool but also secure a coveted spot in the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Global Finals 2024, marking a milestone achievement in their esports journey.
