Riot Games has announced the highly anticipated Teamfight Tactics (TFT) Macau Open 2024, marking the second live LAN event for the popular auto-battler strategy game. Following the success of last year's inaugural event in Las Vegas, the TFT community eagerly awaits this new chapter set in the vibrant city of Macau, China.

Tournament Structure and Format

The main event of TFT Macau Open 2024 will feature 512 competitors battling over three intense days, culminating in the crowning of the champion on Set 13 of the game. Players will be seeded based on their Magic n’ Mayhem rankings from Set 12 initially. Subsequent rounds will see players advance based on points accumulated throughout each round of competition.

Each round will consist of players competing in lobbies of eight, playing three games each round. The top four players in terms of points after each round will progress to the next stage. After six rounds, the top eight players will face off in a final lobby, where the first player to accumulate 20 points will be crowned the TFT Macau Open Champion.

Ticketing and Participation

Entry into the main tournament requires purchasing the Competitor Bundle priced at $399 (£307). However, Riot Games offers discounts of up to $200 (£153) for high-ranked players based on their past tournament performances and rankings.

The ticket sale process is staggered, beginning with Tactician’s Crown event participants on September 3rd, followed by Challengers on September 4th, Grandmasters and Masters on September 5th, and general competitors on September 6th. The cutoff date for Set 12 ranked snapshots is September 2nd, ensuring fair participation opportunities based on recent performance.

Spectator Experience and Side Events

Riot Games is also offering Spectator Passes priced at $150 (~£115), providing access to exciting 'Side Events' and onsite activities. Spectators can enjoy free game stations converted into various fun modes such as 4v4 battles, Mastermind (a 1v1 mode using four PCs simultaneously per player), and exclusive game modes.
