Dr Disrespect, the controversial YouTube streamer who was permanently banned from Twitch in 2020, has made his first Twitter post since addressing the recent allegations surrounding his Twitch ban. Known for his dramatic personality and successful streaming career, Dr Disrespect was a top figure on Twitch before his sudden departure.
In 2020, Twitch banned Dr Disrespect without providing a specific reason. Recently, an ex-Twitch employee claimed that the ban was related to inappropriate messages sent to a minor using Twitch’s Whispers feature. Dr Disrespect addressed these allegations in a lengthy tweet, acknowledging that he had exchanged messages with a minor in 2017 that could be deemed inappropriate but insisted that there were no illegal actions or intentions.
Since then, Dr Disrespect faced a wave of backlash, including the loss of sponsors, strained relationships with former collaborators, and his departure from Midnight Society, the game development company he co-founded.
On August 1, 2024, Dr Disrespect updated his Twitter banner to an image of a fishing bobber floating in the ocean, hinting at a calm or reflective state. Following this, he posted an image of himself at a chessboard, where his side is filled with chess pieces while his opponent’s side has checkers. The image appears to symbolize "playing chess" while his adversaries are "playing checkers," reflecting his confidence amid the controversy.
The response to Dr Disrespect’s new tweet has been mixed. Some users criticized him with remarks and accusations, while others offered words of support. One Twitter user questioned if the chess image was related to the earlier allegations, to which Dr Disrespect responded with a remark directed at the user’s mental health. Another user criticized him with Dragon Ball Z imagery, which Dr Disrespect dismissed.
