Esports World Cup to host Neymar celebrity gaming match in Riyadh

The Esports World Cup is set to dazzle fans with a special appearance by Brazilian football superstar Neymar on Tuesday, August 20. The event will take place at Boulevard Riyadh City, with Neymar headlining a unique showmatch featuring Counter-Strike 2, Rocket League, and Tekken 8.

The Brazilian No.10, who has made Riyadh his home since joining Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal in the summer of 2023, will bring his competitive spirit to the virtual arena at 9pm Saudi Arabia time. The action will unfold at the Qiddiya Arena, where Neymar will showcase his gaming skills across three popular esports titles.

Fans attending the showmatch can anticipate a thrilling experience filled with mini-challenges, interviews, and exclusive interactions. There will also be opportunities to win signed merchandise through raffles.

The inaugural Esports World Cup, hosted at Boulevard Riyadh City, is a massive gaming festival featuring 22 games across 21 titles, with a record-breaking prize pool of $60 million. Neymar's involvement adds a unique twist to the event, as he teams up with professional esports players and local talents in Counter-Strike 2 and Rocket League. Surprise guests and additional details about the teams are still under wraps.

Neymar, who celebrated the Esports World Cup action during his visit in July, is also an Olympic gold medalist and UEFA Champions League winner with FC Barcelona.

The EWC Celebrity Showmatch featuring Neymar will be broadcast live on the Esports World Cup Central channel and through various media partners. The Esports World Cup continues until August 25 at Boulevard Riyadh City.
