Blizzard has unveiled exciting new in-game footage of the Throne of Anubis, the latest addition to Overwatch 2's map roster. This new battlefield will debut in Season 12, launching on August 20. Throne of Anubis will be one of two maps available for the new Clash game mode, which is set to become a core part of the game’s rotation.

The trailer for Overwatch 2 Season 12, titled "New Frontiers," has recently dropped, showcasing a plethora of updates coming to the game. Among the highlights is the official introduction of Clash, a mode that challenges players to capture points on a linear, mirrored map. Initially, Clash was tested with only one map, Hanaoka, a reimagined version of the classic Hanamura map from the original Overwatch. Throne of Anubis follows a similar concept, being a revamped version of the iconic Temple of Anubis, one of the original Assault maps.

Temple of Anubis holds a special place in Overwatch history as it was the first map ever developed for the game and the site where the Omnic Crisis began within the game’s lore. As Clash evolves from the former Assault mode, it’s fitting that these nostalgic maps are making a comeback in a fresh format.

The Throne of Anubis was first teased back in Season 10, alongside the reveal of the hero Venture. Now, two seasons later, players are finally getting the chance to explore this visually stunning and lore-rich map. Fans who enjoyed the Clash mode during its initial testing phase in April are eagerly anticipating its return with new maps to explore.

With its diverse terrain and rich Overwatch history, Throne of Anubis promises to offer players a unique and engaging experience. The map, along with the new Clash game mode, will be available for all players starting August 20 with the launch of Season 12.
