Razer, the renowned hardware and peripherals brand, has announced the latest iteration of its popular Kraken gaming headset series: the Kraken V4. The new lineup includes the Kraken V4 and Kraken V4 X models, each designed to enhance the gaming experience with updated features and performance improvements.

The Kraken V4 series introduces several notable upgrades over its predecessor. Both the V4 and V4 X models now come with enhanced RGB lighting, featuring nine programmable zones in the ear cups, which can be customized using Razer Synapse software. Additionally, the headsets are equipped with new drivers, with a shift from 50mm to 40mm speaker sizes aimed at refining the sound profile.

A significant change is the introduction of a retractable microphone, which can be conveniently slid inside the ear cup when not in use, replacing the detachable design of previous models.

The Kraken V4 wireless model is available for £179.99 and offers up to 70 hours of battery life with RGB lighting off, though this is reduced to around 35 hours when the lighting effects are active. It supports connections via cable, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wireless. The wireless version also features THX Spatial Audio for an immersive sound experience.

For those looking for a more budget-friendly option, the Kraken V4 X wired version will be available later for approximately £100 less. It retains the RGB lighting and retractable microphone but features drivers and other components that are less advanced compared to the wireless model.

Razer has not yet announced updates to other Kraken models such as the Kraken Pro or Kraken HyperSense, but these could be part of the company’s future plans. The new Kraken V4 lineup continues Razer's tradition of offering high-quality gaming headsets with a focus on both performance and aesthetics.
