As excitement builds for Avengers: Doomsday, rumors are swirling about the film’s star-studded cast, hinting at a major expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Although the movie’s official release date is still a few years away, the alleged lineup suggests that Marvel is aiming for a grand-scale ensemble reminiscent of the most epic moments of the franchise.

Since Iron Man launched the MCU in 2008, the Avengers have been central to its narrative. Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony Stark ignited what would become one of the most influential film series in history. With the Infinity Saga behind us, Marvel Studios has been setting the stage for the next era, which will include both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Recent rumors, fueled by a report from The Direct and insights from Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, suggest that Avengers: Doomsday will feature a remarkable lineup of characters. The supposed cast includes Robert Downey Jr. returning in a new role as Doctor Doom, a significant departure from his iconic Iron Man persona. Alongside him, Anthony Mackie is expected to reprise his role as Sam Wilson, now Captain America. Other returning faces rumored to appear are Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova.

The film is also said to incorporate characters from the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, with Pedro Pascal rumored to play Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing). Additionally, Franklin Richards, though not officially confirmed, is speculated to appear in the film.

Adding to the intrigue, speculative reports suggest that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange might also return. Furthermore, while Shang-Chi and characters from The Marvels were considered likely candidates, their involvement remains uncertain following recent box office results.

Despite the film’s 2026 release date, it’s clear that Marvel is laying the groundwork for an ambitious and expansive story. How the studio plans to weave these characters into the narrative and whether Avengers: Doomsday can capture the buildup and impact of its predecessors remains to be seen. However, the rumored cast suggests that fans should prepare for another epic chapter in the MCU, with a roster that promises both familiar faces and exciting new additions.
