The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) has officially announced that its Year 4 Championship will be held in Sapporo, Japan. This marks a historic moment as it will be the first time the competitive Apex Legends circuit features a LAN event in Asia.

The much-anticipated championship is set to take place from January 29th to February 2nd, 2025, at the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME. This impressive 42,000-seat stadium, located on the outskirts of central Sapporo, will host the five-day event where top teams from around the world will battle it out for the coveted title of ALGS champion. In addition to the honor of becoming the best in the league, teams will compete for a substantial prize pool of $2 million (approximately £1.52 million).

The announcement of the ALGS’ debut in Asia came during the Split 2 Playoffs held in Mannheim, Germany. The playoffs garnered significant attention, with peak viewing figures reaching 371,239, making it the 13th-most-watched Apex Legends event ever, according to Esports Charts.

Apex Legends continues to be a dominant force in the battle royale genre and esports. The first split of the 2024 season was hosted in Los Angeles, and the title was featured at the Esports World Cup, a major multi-title event organized by the Esports World Cup Foundation. Additionally, non-endemic brands have shown growing interest, with telecommunications giant Nokia hosting a charity event in May 2024 to showcase its Wi-Fi Beacon 10 product.

John Nelson, Senior Director of Esports at EA Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about the championship’s location: “Apex Legends is an internationally renowned franchise, and it’s incredibly rewarding when we get to show up in the hometowns of our players and fans around the world. The ALGS has a massive community in Japan, and we’ve seen all of the comments asking us to bring the program to the country, which is why we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the marquee event on our competitive calendar at the iconic Daiwa House PREMIST DOME.”

The ALGS Year 4 Championship is set to be a landmark event, celebrating the global appeal of Apex Legends and its vibrant community.
