Everything You Need to Know About the New Region Selection Feature
Introduction
Konami has introduced a new feature in the eFootball 2025 v4.3.0 update that allows users to change their region. However, before making a decision, it's important to understand the impact of this change on your gaming experience.
What Happens When You Change Your Region?
1. Coin Purchases Are Not Affected
Even if you set your region to Japan, coin purchases will still be processed based on your Google Play Store, Apple Store, or payment card location. This means:
- Coins will be displayed in your resident country’s currency.
- The price of coins is determined by the store (Google Play, Apple Store, Steam, etc.), not your in-game region.
- For example, if your Google Play Store location is Turkey, the price will be in Turkish Lira, not Japanese Yen.
2. Weekly Japanese Events & Matchmaking
If you select Japan as your region, here’s what happens:
- Thursday Events: You will get Japan-exclusive events that require Japanese teams and players.
- Matchmaking Issues: If you wait a few days to play the event, it becomes difficult to find opponents as fewer players participate later in the week.
- Not Limited to Japanese Players: You will be matched with players who selected Japan as their region, but they may not necessarily be in Japan.
3. Additional Weekly Rewards
Choosing the Japanese region grants you extra rewards:
- 25 Free Coins Weekly: If claimed every Monday, this adds up to 100 free coins per month.
- Japanese Player of the Month: Konami provides free Japanese players and a selection contract for one free try.
- Boosted Japanese Players: Players with "Total Package Booster" require a full Japanese league squad to maximize their stats.
4. Expiry & Account Limitations
- Coin Expiry: Coins in your inbox do not expire, but the free 25 weekly coins expire if not claimed.
- Limited Support: Konami recommends using your actual region to avoid support issues.
- eFootball Points Store Restriction: If your game region and Konami ID region differ, you won’t be able to claim free 100 coins from the eFootball Points Store.
- Unlinking Restrictions: You won’t be able to unlink your Konami ID and update it with a new region.
Should You Change Your Region?
If you are a Free-to-Play (F2P) player: Changing to Japan could be beneficial due to free coins and player rewards.
If you spend money on packs: Region changes won’t affect your purchases, so it’s not necessary.
Final Recommendation: Stick to your current region unless you want to risk unforeseen issues with Konami in future updates.
Alternative Solution: Create a Second Account
If you want to experience Japanese events and rewards without risking your main account, consider creating a second account instead of changing your primary region.
